Brief
Created by Black Women Connect Vancouver, the Empowered Black Girl initiative sought a bold, modern brand identity that stood out from other teen programs while embodying strength, pride, and Black culture. The visual identity needed to feel empowering and relatable, creating a safe space where young Black girls could see themselves reflected and celebrated.
Concept
The creative direction centered on building a brand that young Black girls could see themselves in—strong, joyful, and proud. The design used fun, youthful colours to capture the vibrancy of adolescence while maintaining a sense of empowerment and cultural pride. Adaptable across print, digital, and apparel, the visual identity was crafted to feel both playful and purposeful, allowing Empowered Black Girl to connect with its audience wherever they are.
Solution
The new brand identity positioned Empowered Black Girl as a front-runner in youth development, setting it apart through bold design and meaningful representation. Adaptable across print, digital, and apparel, the refreshed identity strengthened recognition, built credibility, and reinforced the organization’s mission to uplift and inspire the next generation of Black girls.
